Elections for 275-member House of Representatives (lower house) and 550-members of 7 provincial assemblies were held in Nepal on Sunday, 20th November that are likely to be won by the ruling coalition, led by centrist Nepali Congress Party. Voter turn-out remained 61%, much lower than the 2017 elections (78%).
From a population of 29.1 million, about 18 million people of age 18-year and above are eligible to vote. In the House of Representatives, direct elections are held for165 sests (60%) while 110 seats (40%) are elected through proportional representation system.
2412 candidates for the House of Representatives and 3224 candidates for provincial assemblies contested the elections. Results compilation would take few days.
