Eighty-year old President Teodoro Obiang, the world's longest-ruling head of state, has extended his 43 years' stay in office.

Election results released by the government of Equatorial Guinea on 21 November showed the ruling party winning over 99% of votes in elections held on 20 November.

Equatorial Guinea, a tiny oil producing country, has had only two presidents since independence from Spain in 1968; Obiang and his uncle Francisco Macias Nguema, who he removed in a coup in 1979.
