DShK used against Iranian protestors?

Several shell casings were recovered from protests in what may be Javanrud, Kermanshah Province, Iran. These casings share common traits with 12.7x108mm machine gun rounds which are commonly used on the Soviet-era DShK machine gun.

Note that this cartridge also shares commonality with the Russian KSVK 12.7 anti-material rifle, although I don't believe that this weapon is in use by Iran.

This is tough to estimate because the sounds of firing in some of the protest videos do not match the sounds of DShKs. You can hear that sound here:

These weapons have no purpose at civilian protests. If this is correct, then Iran's regime has resorted to battlefield weapons that have no purpose at protests other than to cause loss of life in the most gruesome ways. These weapons are designed to punch holes in vehicles, they are catastrophic against human beings.
