Canada is set to kick off its World Cup bid on Wednesday in Qatar. The team will face a heavily favoured Belgian squad. Canada has only one World Cup appearance, which was back in Mexico in 1986 and they lost all three games and didn’t score a single goal.

Here in our city an official World Cup watch party will be hosted at Festival Square at 12pm by the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ. Sarah Amies, the community director with the group highlighted what the day will look like.

The Lethbridge Soccer Association also donated $500 to the BRZ to be able to make sure that soccer lovers feel welcome at the event. The organization will also be hosting additional Canadian World Cup soccer viewing parties on November 27 and December 1.
