I had noticed a day ago that there are only two people mentioned in the Bible where a memorial was mentioned about them. The first one was done in Judea secretly in a house by a woman who was a harlot. Christ, seeing that her action proceeded from a hearty and burning love to him, accepted her act as an extraordinary act of kindness to him.

He told his disciples. "She hath wrought a good work on Me.....Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her."

"There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always...He saw in a vision an angel who told him, "Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God."

The woman was a harlot who was unsaved when she "wrought a good work upon Jesus." The Centurion was yet unsaved at this point, but in efforts from a yearning, loving, "God fearing" heart was a giving man. And was told by the angel sent from God that his prayers and alms came before Him as a memorial.

The point is that though these two people were yet unsaved, look at the good work they wrought upon Jesus and the poor. God took notice of them and the work of their hearts. Their memorials are alive today and will be forever.

As born again believers, let the things we now do for others be from loving hearts. Demonstrated in the act of selfless giving as long as we live, "as living sacrifices, holy acceptable and pleasing in His sight."

This is the Thanksgiving and holiday seasons. The time when people are not happy, they are poor in spirit, suffering losses, and losses to come. Remember them that need love, that need compassion, "making a difference." Reach out to those who have lost hope. "Remember those that bound as bound with them."

Give yourself away, give words of Jesus Christ away to them, lifting them up. Jackie Pullinger, a missionary to Hong Kong said, "The principle of the Gospel is this. It gives life to the receiver and death to the giver."

The more you give the more you die, the more Christ lives the more you live. Then you will really begin to live the resurrected life. There is no other way. Make a difference in lives by a word of hope and loving acts of kindness. Or in happy deeds and your life will come up as a memorial before God now and forever.

"I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess." ~Martin Luther
