Canada: PM Trudeau on La Francophonie funding, Haiti, alleged election interference – November 20, 2022

Speaking with reporters in Djerba, Tunisia, at the conclusion of the 18th Summit of La Francophonie, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces over $139 million in funding for various projects aimed at supporting La Francophonie’s institutions and advancing peace, security and democracy in the French-speaking world. The prime minister also announces $16.5 million in aid to support the Haitian government amid ongoing unrest and political strife in the country. Following his announcements he takes questions on possible military intervention in Haiti and allegations of Chinese interference in the 2019 Canadian election. Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly is also in attendance.
