In an expose in Revolver magazine the connection between FTX's Sam Bankman Fried and his girlfriend Caroline Ellison and their two companies becomes more clear. A company named protos that looked into the Stablecoin Tether and the relationship between Alameda Research, Caroline's Ellison's company and Tether and FTX is an interesting one with the article saying: " Tether boasted a $1 billion market capitalization when Bitcoin hit $20,000 at the end of 2017. This year, it’s a $70 billion-plus powerhouse. Practically every crypto exchange supports USDT trade in some form. The makeup of Tether’s reserves and its inner workings are yet to be disclosed in clear detail. Still, the question of who exactly buys Tether directly from its parent company Bitfinex has remained unanswered since its inception way back in 2014.
