It is just a private video clip, from when Sal and I went outside (Southern Suburbs of Stockholm) in the middle of the night, in order to take in the amazing landscape which so suddenly and heavily got blasted with snow. At this stage we got already 30 cm (in the afternoon it had increased to a whopping 47 cm)

Already, as we exited our home, a first of four lightning strikes occurred with a loud rumbling only two seconds later. In the video we captured one of the four strikes. They must have been very close, because not much time went by between lightning and thunder.

The last lightning strike was the worst, loud and painfully sharp (not in the video) so we went very quickly home. No other thunderstorm cells were present that night, in a radius of 300 km. Nor did any other develop later.

Last time I experienced snow thunderstorms was on 28 Feb 1996 in the city of Stockholm.

Overall - it was a truly magic night going out like that, and watching the wonders of weather. And if you thought, it was blistering cold. No, not at all. The temperature stayed constantly around 0°C day and night. In between snow showers, the air was all still and tranquil, giving off a very special aura. I simply love simple adventures like this - by snapping out of daily life routines, taking in what nature in so many ways surrounds us with - if you open up for it.
