An off-duty Vermont sheriff’s deputy was shot by police after exchanging fire with a group in Saratoga Springs, New York, in the early hours of Sunday, November 20, police said, according to the Daily Gazette. According to officials cited by the outlet, the deputy was seen holding a leveled handgun when police responded to a call of shots fired. He was told multiple times to drop the weapon before officers opened fire, officials said. Moments beforehand, two other people were shot in an incident involving the deputy, the outlet said. The deputy was shot 10 times but survived, police said. He and others who were injured were taken to hospital for treatment, according to police. The two shootings occurred within minutes of each other, the Daily Gazette reported. The city released body camera footage and aerial security footage of the incident.
