Emotional Moment Chimpanzee Is Reunited With Newborn

A chimpanzee named Mahale gave birth via emergency C-section at Sedgwick County Zoo in Kansas. Veterinarians along with human obstetrician/gynecologists determined the cesarean was best after natural labor stopped progressing. The baby at first was not getting enough oxygen, so he received treatment at the zoo’s hospital, but that meant separating mother and child for two days. Zoo keepers watched carefully as the pair were reintroduced.
