Elizabeth May is named once again the leader of the Green Party of Canada as the party reveals the results of its leadership race during an event in Ottawa. She beat leadership rivals Sarah Gabrielle Baron, Simon Gnocchini-Messier, Anna Keenan, Jonathan Pedneault, and Chad Walcott on the sixth and final ballot to succeed Annamie Paul as head of the party. May previously led the party from 2006 to 2019. She and Pedneault ran together on a shared platform and are proposing to work together as co-leaders. The formal adoption of a co-leadership model would require an amendment to the party’s constitution. May and Pedneault deliver remarks and also speak with reporters following her victory.
