Black Panther 2 should have been at least a billion dollar movie, but now it will likely do business closer to Thor Love and Thunder, $700 to $800 million. This would not break even for Disney, even with a huge percentage of Marvel fans, 81% of which say they will watch ANY Marvel movie in the universe. How did things get this bad? What could Marvel have been if they didn't go woke?

DISASTER BLACK PANTHER 2 HUGE DROP More Than Expected International Looks Worse! May Not Break Even!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is estimated to have a bigger-than-expected second-weekend drop.

Earlier in the week, Deadline originally estimated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to only drop 60%, but now that the weekend is here, Deadline now estimates the flick will drop by 65%.

The second weekend updated estimates offer Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will bring in $64 million, which would be 65% down from its $181 million opening.

Of course the second weekend could always perform better if audiences decided to see it this weekend, but the sequel is performing nowhere near as well as the first Black Panther in 2018 which only saw a second-weekend drop of 44.7% and brought in a whopping $111.6 million.

Comparing Wakanda Forever to Doctor Strange 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder
The Wakanda Forever box office is being compared to both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder.

In the same eight days of release, domestically Wakanda Forever ($238.6M) is trailing Doctor Strange 2 ($247.9M) but beating out Thor: Love and Thunder ($201) — and again, no comparisons to the first movie that brought in a massive $320.7M in its first eight days.

Doctor Strange 2 seems to be the better comparison, where Wakanda Forever is trailing by about 4%.

The Multiverse of Madness opened to $187.4 million and brought in $61.7M for its second weekend which is a drop of 67%, so Wakanda Forever is really similar.

Doctor Strange 2 also finished with a $411 million domestic box office but it made over $544 million internationally.

Right now, Wakanda Forever is at $187.2 million internationally but its foreign numbers don’t look to be as good as DS2, which finished with a worldwide gross of over $955.7 million, so Wakanda Forever will likely finish below DS2 and below a billion dollars, while the first Black Panther made over $1.346 billion.

While true Wakanda Forever doesn’t have the benefit of China, the Middle Kingdom only provided the first film with $105 million so that’s not an excuse.
