Democrats secure Nevada Senate seat

Democratic US Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is projected to have been re-elected to the Senate for Nevada.

Her re-election guarantees the US Senate will be controlled by the Democrats in 2023.

Senator Cortez Masto defeated Republican challenger Adam Laxalt in the state's Senate race.

Mr Laxalt was endorsed by former US President Donald Trump.
