Puppy Born Under Boulder ~ Aussies 1st Pup 1st Liter

This is Daisy, our blue eyed Australian Shepherd, and her first born puppy, Gadget, from her very first liter.

Daisy woke me near 3am to go out. When she didn’t return I went on a search and found her down a cliff under a huge boulder where she went to give birth.

I saw Gadget be born and saw Daisy rearing up stomping on him with her front feet. Soon after Gadget began to squirm and squeak. This is right after that when she was waiting for the next pups birth.

We later learned that Gadget had a deformed lower jaw, a cleft of sorts, and Daisy was likely trying to kill him when she stopped on him but accidentally brought him to life.

Gadget lived with us a little over a year and a half until he passed from complications from his disability. He was a brilliant pup and will be featured in future videos.

It took several hours to recover the 7 puppies from under the boulder and into the truck but everyone made it safely!
