Making a pocket folding knife [ from rusted leaf spring and Bimetal Band Saw Blade ]

In this video, I make a pocket folding knife from a rusted leaf spring and Bimetal Band Saw Blade.
a folding knife is actually designed to be a gravity knife. it's kind of long, it's
designed to fit in a person's back pocket kind of old-school.
the project started by me taking apart an existing very cheap knife that I had laying around the house $5
and I really just wanted to see how the locking mechanism worked I basically trace that locking mechanism
and then I designed the knife that I wanted the size of the blade the shape of the blade etc and I cut it all
out in construction paper and using just tacks now a folding knife is not all to
complicated to make basically this for different shaped components, you've got
the blade, you've got the lock, and you've got the backplate which also holds the spring and then you've got two identical liners.

I started the work using a disc grinder to cut out the basic shape of each piece. I'm
working on that backing plate from the leaf spring and this is just the butt end of the knife
it really is not that difficult, Then I marked the all pieces and colored them. I used an old broken bimetal band saw blade piece for the blade,
I even started to work on the blade and on the locking mechanism with the disc grinder. first I just removed the majority of the material and then I many of the components I left a little bit oversized. now after I cut everything out with a
cutting wheel I go to grind them down to the finished size. drill the one-by-eight holes on the black plate. the next step was going to be to bevel the blade, and sharpen the blade
