Let Her Go Boys

Hello my friends. This video features another song from my latest folk music CD, "On The Road To Seventy", which will be released in early April of this year. I wrote this song shortly after I returned home from a day spent fishing on Trinity Bay with my friends Reg Stanford and Berkley Pinsent. The date was September 5, 2016, and the conditions were perfect. We were fishing for northern cod during the food fishery, and we had a great day on the water. We caught our daily limit of five fish each. It's good to see the cod stocks rebounding. The closure of the cod fishery in 1992, was not just a loss of jobs for the fishermen, it was an end to a way of life that has been a part of the Newfoundland & Labrador culture for centuries. Hopefully we have learned from our mistakes, and hopefully the increasing cod stocks will enable those who wish to continue to earn a living as fishermen and fisherwomen, can do so.Show more
