AG Garland names prosecutor Jack Smith as Mar A Lago special counsel

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has officially named prosecutor Jack Smith to oversee the Department of Justice investigation into the discovery of classified documents at the Florida home of Donald Trump, as well as key aspects of a separate DOJ probe into the former president's actions around the January 6th insurrection.
