Opening day of deer season in Kentucky was a success and now we have a little more meat in the freezer! And we check in with the animals during an autumn cold snap.

We do our best to provide as much food for our family as we can with the resources available to us on our homestead. One of the ways we choose to do that is through hunting. Modern [REDACTED] Season opened last weekend so I took to the woods on our 10 acre property hoping to bag a deer for our freezer. For the first time in all the years I’ve been hunting I was covered up in deer and was able to take a doe. We processed her ourselves and now we have a little extra meat to keep us going through the winter.

Here in Kentucky we don’t get too many snowy days in November and while that was a neat occurrence for opening day our farm animals didn’t particularly care for the sudden drop in temperature. Our critters, however, are able to acclimate quickly to the weather and we always keep the barn full of dry, warm bedding, clean water, and food.

Thanks for watching this video and for spending a little time hanging out with our family. If you enjoyed it I hope you’ll consider subscribing to the channel. See y’all soon!
