Here is a look at how hormonal imbalance can lead to higher body weight. - Decreased Thyroid Function - Thyroid hormone boosts metabolism and controls body weight.
When thyroid hormone is low, the body is unable to turn calories into energy.
As a result, the body stores these calories as fat. Studies have shown that women with hypothyroidism are more likely to be overweight than those who have an adequate amount of thyroid hormone.
