The Komodo dragon and its habitat, as well as the region's terrestrial and marine biodiversity, are protected by the Komodo National Park. As one of the "New 7 Wonders of Nature," it has been chosen.
According to unesco.org, the Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: "Around 5,700 enormous reptiles call these volcanic islands home; because of their appearance and violent nature, they are known as "Komodo dragons." They are unique to our planet and of significant interest to researchers looking into the theory of evolution. Contrasting sharply with the dazzling white sand beaches and the turquoise waves crashing over coral are the craggy slopes of arid savannah and pockets of prickly green flora."
