Part Two - Sumner County Schools book review, my takeaways

In this second part of my takeaways from the school board meeting where A Place Inside of Me was voted on after being challenged, it’s clear the board can pick and choose who gets to speak, and it’s clear they shut down discussion when it makes them uncomfortable. The overwhelming concern with this book is precisely what this citizen was speaking on. Also included here is board member Mr. King’s thoughtful reasoning on why he couldn’t support keeping the book available to young children. The book remains by a vote of 7-3.
