FFW 19.1 – Unreal Engine 5.1
In Unreal Engine 5, the developers at Epic Games quietly made Linux support official. Now they are making it much more pleasant to develop games on Linux with the Unreal Engine. There is quite a list of improvements and tweaks that really fly over my head, but if you are a developer, I welcome you to take a look at the article for a summation of the changelog for this release. These things will make it easier to develop AAA titles that are Linux native, as the Unreal Engine is exceedingly popular in those sorts of projects, as it is extremely powerful and taught in schools.

FFW 19.3 – WINE 7.21 Released
What is WINE again? It stands for WINE Is Not an Emulator, and serves a similar purpose for general Windows apps and programs that DXVK does for DirectX API calls. It translates Windows instructions to Linux counterparts, rather than essentially setting up a virtual machine with just enough resources to run the app or game in question. The developers release one major update every year. It is that time, so let’s look at what is new, now:
OpenGL library converted to PE.
Support for multi-architecture PE builds.
More preparation work for Vulkan 32-on-64 support.
Support for creating import libraries without dlltool.
Locale data updates.
Various bug fixes.

There are certain pieces of software that are unlikely to ever be released for Linux, much less be made compatible through WINE, here’s looking at you, Adobe.
