Rugged by the government? NFTs are now cash!?

President Joe Biden calls it a “monumental step forward”. A $1tn infrastructure spending package passed in the House of Representatives by 228 votes to 206. The money will be used to upgrade the US basic infrastructure across highways, roads, bridges, city transit systems as well as provisions for clean drinking water, high speed internet and a nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations. You’ll notice I didn’t mention anything to do with cryptocurrencies there. And yet. We’ve already seen a mighty cry of foul from our side over the revised definition of the term ‘broker’ in the bill. But that wasn’t the only change to the code hidden deep in the massive document. An amendment to section 6050I of the tax code is being called ‘an unworkable and arguably unconstitutional tax change’ and in its present form it will throw up yet another set of disproportionately large stumbling blocks to any US citizen attempting to stay on the right side of the tracks. Requiring counterparties to engage in surveillance on each other, even when transacting peer to peer.
