Nasa launches Artemis 1 in first US attempt to return astronauts to the moon in 50 years

Nasa launched its most powerful moon rocket on November 16, 2022. Artemis 1 carried the Orion capsule, which is on course for a 25-day journey to the moon and back. The launch followed two previous attempts that were aborted due to technical problems. While the spacecraft was uncrewed for this particular flight, the US space agency hopes to send astronauts on future missions, taking humans back to the moon for the first time since 1972.
