Walt Heyer lived as Laura Jensen for 8 years. He was euphoric after the final surgery and heard the medical staff address him as "Laura." After 8 months, however, he began to feel dissatisfied. The old feelings of confusion returned to haunt him. All the while his gender specialist doctor assured him that he was fine. What the doctor didn't know, because he never asked, was the traumatic childhood Walt had experienced.
