So I still had this wild idea in my head that Sammi Jo, having a litter of kittens, would be a wonderful experience. Even with all I had been learning from “The Cat Daddy / Jackson Galaxy.” My mind was still made up. You see, I am very stubborn, and I had this picture in my head of what Sammi Jo's kittens would look like. I also had this silly thought in my head that becoming a mother would change Sam Sam. Make her less aggressive. The Overpopulation and 100's of thousands of cats in kill shelters was something I NOW knew about, but, I resisted. Kelly's suggestions that we get Her spay operation done, went unheard. Why was I being so pig headed?

Kelly, my wife, wanted to adopt another kitten as Her 2 older cats of 17 yrs. Shadow & Squeakers, Had passed away about a year into this Sammi Jo Story. You see Sammi Jo was to be Her kitten, But chose me. Kelly would get bitten or scratched when She tried to handle Sammi Jo. It is true when they say that the cat chooses it's human, We have seen this first hand with "Sam Sam." We also saw this with our 2nd Rescue.

Meet Mr. Jax

“Mr. Jax” He is a chocolate point Siamese. He is Kelly's boy. Named after Jax Teller from the Sons of Anarchy television series. This is how we met “Mr Jax.” Our local Pets-mart store has weekend adoption drives. My Aunt Susan & Her Husband John Butler were down from Rockingham, NC. visiting with us in N. FLA for the weekend. (Dec, 2012) We stopped in to Pets-mart. They had no Siamese. Kelly had Her heart set on that breed. I was sure I could talk Her into another long hair. Either a Rag Doll, or Main Coon. Nope.! She would not budge. So we ran down to Ocala, FL. To another Pets-mart store. They had a couple Rags. They looked like Samantha Jo. But Kelly made eye contact with a Terrified Little chocolate point. He was cowering in fear in the back of a cage that was out of Her reach.

Grape Ape 2 the Rescue

John is rather tall with long arms and legs. He quickly came to the rescue, being a “Cat Daddy” himself, He gently took the Kitten from the cage and handed him to Kelly. And that was that. I put the long haired Rag Doll kitten I was holding back in it’s cage. And believe Me, that was not easy. We almost went home with #3 that day also.

"Mr. Jax" He wanted nothing to do with me for several years. He loves his Kelly & Samantha too. But Me... Not so much. It took Him several years just to feel safe enough for me to be able to touch or hold him. He now comes to see me. Eats ice cream off of my spoon. It has taken 6 yrs to get to this point. But it was worth every frustrating , run & hide moment of it. I just kept stopping to love on him every chance I got. Of course the fact that I am gone so much on the road making a living. That slowed the whole trust issue down to a very slow process, As soon as He would get curious and want to see me I was gone again.

Jax will always be a... "Momma's Kitty"
