Senate Republicans voted for Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to continue to be the party’s leader in the upcoming 118th Congress. The party elected two new faces to the leadership. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) will be the conference vice chair and Sen. Steve Daines will chair the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Sen. Joni Enrst has a new position and will be the party’s policy chair. Sen. John Thune (R-SD) will remain the whip and Sen. John Barrasso will stay as the conference chair. The Republican leaders spoke about the election results and what it means for the party in a new Congress.
