The roots of modern-day conservative Republicanism began not as a reactionary movement in the 1960s, but in the early twentieth century. The ideals that make up contemporary conservatism in America, began not New York or Ohio, but in California. The epic political, economic and ideological battle first started with the Regular Republicans in California and would have national and lasting implications.
