UKRAINIAN servicemen carefully remove landmines in the Kherson region.

Among ordnance retrieved by rescue servicemen were missiles, projectile remains, and a number of unexploded landmines.

"Altogether, at this moment, we understand that Ukraine is the most contaminated country in the world. At this moment we have more than 200,000 square kilometres not checked yet and not demined," Akopyan told reporters.

Kherson residents welcomed troops in the city center after Russia abandoned the only regional capital it had captured since its invasion in February.
