Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the main international airport serving Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The airport is located 7 miles south of Downtown Atlanta. It was built in 1953 and is named after former Maynard Jackson and William B. Hartsfield. ATL Hartsfield-Jackson covers 4,700 acres (1,902 ha) and has five parallel runways. It's been the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998. However, in 2020 it was dethroned due to the effects of COVID-19 pandemic but it’s back on top since 2021.
