Romania’s Timisoara overwhelmed as migrants find new route to EU

Since last autumn, the number of asylum-seekers in Romania has grown almost 150 percent. This is unprecedented for this European country in the eastern Balkans, with Romania entirely unprepared to receive the new influx of migrants now passing through Timisoara, the largest town in the west of the country. On the ground, support systems are failing and authorities are overwhelmed. One local NGO is rolling up its sleeves to help.
