Group E of the 2022 World Cup is claimed to be the group of hell at this event that takes place every four years. How not, two world champion teams, Germany and Spain are in this group.

The other two teams that complete Group E are the 2019 Asian Cup finalists, Japan, and the winner of the intercontinental playoff, Costa Rica.

With the draw held by FIFA last April, there will be a repeat of the 2010 World Cup semifinals, where Germany met Spain.
Meanwhile, Japan will also try hard to maintain their status as one of the strongest teams from Asia.

Qualifying for the knockout stages has been the target of the Blue Samurai, who have reached the last 16 of the World Cup in three of six successive appearances.

Costa Rica became a participant in Group E after winning 1-0 over New Zealand in the intercontinental playoff, 14 June. Los Ticos will start their adventure at the 2022 World Cup by facing Luis Enrique's squad on November 23.
