At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Margaret Eaton, national CEO of the Mental Health Association (CMHA) announces the launch of the “Act for Mental Health,” a campaign calling for the creation of Canada Mental Health Transfer, which would transfer mental-health-care payments to the provinces and territories. She is joined by Leora Simon (chair, National Council of Persons with Lived Experience), Marion Cooper (CEO, CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg) and Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah (executive director, Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity). The proposed new payments were part of the Liberals’ 2021 federal election platform.
