Ice Skating Tutorial within 5 minutes
Beginner's Guide to Figure Skating: Ice skating is an exhilarating form of intense cardiovascular exercise that improves balance and builds leg muscles. When you first try ice skating, stepping on the ice can be a daunting experience. However, this is not required. Read and discover our tips and tricks that will take you from beginner to pro in no time. Dress according to the circumstance When you hit the rink, your attire can have a huge impact on your overall experience. This means you must wear appropriate clothing that provides warmth, comfort, and safety. Make sure you wear gloves as they will protect your hands if you fall. It is also advisable to wear layered socks and socks over the boot to avoid blisters and chafing. One of the biggest mistakes people make is wearing thick skate socks. You should refrain from doing this, because thick socks do not let air through and restrict your movement. Choose the right skates Once you've picked the right skater outfit, it's time to focus on your shoes. If possible, it is recommended to choose skates for figure skating. They are considered easier for beginners due to their longer blades. Also, make sure to choose the right skate size. If the skates feel too small, your feet and toes will quickly become sore, which can affect your experience. On the other hand, skates that are too large increase the risk of injury because the ankles are not adequately supported. Once you've picked the right skates, make sure you lace and secure them properly before you begin. Start slow While you may be itching to get on the ice, it's best to start slowly and take your time to get used to the rink. You should start warming up. This reduces the risk of injury and ensures your back, shoulders, neck and legs are stretched and ready for action. Once you reach the rink, stay close to the barrier. This gives you the opportunity to gain confidence by observing other skaters. Don't look down If there's one thing we need to emphasize, it's don't look down while skating! Of course, you should also check what your feet are doing as you do this, but not paying attention to what's in front of you can throw you off balance and increase your risk of falling. It is recommended to keep your head high and face the direction you want to go. When sliding along the risk, be sure to bend your knees a little for better balance. Learn from the best Learning to skate takes time, effort and patience. While some people just want to skate for fun, others aspire to become pros. If you fall into the latter category, you can draw inspiration from the Riedell team of talented athletes from around the world. While skating can seem intimidating at first, if you have the patience, wear the right gear, and bring all of the above on board, you can learn to skate in no time.
