What does the parable of the wedding garment mean?

The parable of the wedding garment is a rather odd story. A king decides to host a wedding party for his son, but some of his invitees kill his messengers, he has to pick people off the street to fill the hall, and he kicks a guest out of the building just for wearing the wrong clothes.

Still, Jesus told it, so it has to have some meaning, right?
