Imagine California would have separated from the US in 1918 and become its own country called Calexico. Following a war there was political chaos in the US and a revolution. California separated and today only one third of Americans are left in the country.

Imagine the war would have been against a small country in South America and the winning parties of Russia and the United States entered a cold war afterwards. Over the course of several decades all South American countries gradually entered a military alliance with Russia called SATO.

Imagine Russia would have set up military outposts including missle defence sites aiming at the US in Guatemala, Honduras, Kuba, and the Dominican Republic. Although it assured the US not to move an inch closer to its territory. SATO is helping Calexico to built up a great military power only second to the US in the region...
