In the election, a vote is cast for the number of open seats. Ex: 5 open school board seats; candidates can cross file (County and Supervisor candidates cannot); Primary results take the top 5 vote winners from each ticket; then those names go to the November ballot. Candidates winning on both primary tickets are only listed once on the November ballot.
