Stamps and Architecture: Restored Historical German Buildings
1 year ago
Here we have a stamp series from the long gone East Germany (DDR) issued on November 14, 1955 to showcase Restored Historical German Buildings. Certainly the decade between 1945-55 seen lots of restoration work. The 10th year anniversary of the end of the second world war needed to be celebrated and the resorted historical buildings showcased to the world. This of course had some propaganda value and not completely true, as restoration and rebuilding of these buildings took much longer time.
