Coldplay - X&Y (Reimagined) [Fan interpretation]

DESCRIPTION:

X&Y was an album that had the potential to be Coldplay's greatest, but disappointingly fell short of what it could have been. Among the issues regarding the album's production and lack of lyrical depth were issues of consistency (conceptual and artistic) and of musical flow. This reimagined album is meant to correct the track listing/track order as well as the album art issues of the groups third LP with the tools that are available.

PREFACE:

Off the heels of "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", one can understand the context for "X & Y" and one can also understand the potential that this album had. Not only was the potential there, but the group also knew where it was going and how it was going to get there. It can be heard throughout the entire album. Some in more obvious moments and some, just glimpses.

What's more painful than a blatant failure is something good that fell short of greatness. X & Y's great stain was not that is was bad or even mediocre, but rather that it could have not only been outstanding, but was actively trying to be.

X & Y is riddled with issues that all add up to an unfortunate sigh. From it's production value to it's over zealous artistic approach. From it's lack of confidence to it's lack of lyrical depth. From it's lack of consistency to it's lack of integrity. They all culminate to a desire to want more. A desire to go back and dig out what you know it has deep inside. The ingredients were all there, but the cake was half-baked. That is the sad reality that one must come to.

This video is an attempt to fix, or rather, reshape the way the album is to be understood. A total overhaul - although much to be desired - would take far to many resources and may ultimately be fruitless in the end. So, this will likely be the extent to which this reimagined take of the album will go. But, who knows?

Although we should not linger on the past nor over-criticize, this album is non-the-less a good mental exercise for a long time fan. I hope you enjoy!
