My 3D Printing Chronicles: Today I'm taking it back to one of the most iconic science fiction movies of all time, one that was pivotal in shaping our thoughts about space travel and extraterrestrial life forms - 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The movie was directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrik in 1968 and foretold the use of ipads, video conferencing devices amongst other technology that is now common today.

Stanley's use of physical special effects and techniques at a time when CGI was only the stuff of dreams, is quite remarkable and remains timeless in today’s saturated, monotonous CGI movie making landscape.

Here's a 3D printed astronaut sitting on a moon rock. I have finished the space suit using the colours of one worn in the movie.
