KAKABAN ISLAND

Kakaban Island which is the outermost island in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, is really interesting to visit.

This island, whose area is dominated by lakes up to 80 percent compared to its land area, was once in the Derawan Island cluster.

Now, this 774.2 hectare area is included in Maratua District, in Kampung Payung-payung to be precise.
Kakaban is special for a lake whose water comes from seawater seepage and rain.

This lake is also a habitat for mini jellyfish that do not sting in their thousands. They were "stuck" since thousands of years ago which finally live in peace.
