Rodney M. Jacobson is suing Zachary K. Deaterly in a Sarasota, Florida court for the shooting of Jacobson's dog, a Staffordshire Terrier during an interaction that occurred on November 18, 2016.

Deaterly was never charged with a crime as local law enforcement determined that he had acted in self-defense.
