#kherson retreat - Why Russia left so much equipment behind

River crossings are probably one of the most difficult maneuvers to perform in warfare. They require that vehicles queue up and cross single file, making them excellent targets. And soldiers can't fight from vehicles while they are crossing.

I believe that Russia had to make a decision - to abandon vehicles and save their men which meant their men would be combat ineffective without their equipment. Or try to cross with their men and equipment which could mean losing soldiers and equipment. Russia went with the second option.

In war, you always want to give your enemy dilemmas, not problems. Problems have one solution. Dilemmas have two solutions, each of which are equally bad.
