Tropical Storm Nicole continues to pound Florida, now heading north

After making an historic landfall as a late-season category 1 hurricane near Vero Beach in Florida, Nicole has weakened to a tropical storm, and it's on the move, churning northward into several states that are already seeing severe weather. As of this afternoon, more than 300,000 homes and businesses in Florida were without power. Crews continue to work to restore electricity and assess the damage.
