On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect our freedoms.

Reflecting on WW1 Armistice Day
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

We owe it to the dead that we redeem our promise that their sacrifice ... Such a sacrifice of freedom and justice is the one calamity greater than war.

GOD SAVE NEW ZEALAND
