Hurricane Nicole has made landfall in Florida, with wind speeds reaching up to 75mph (120km/h).
Some 215,000 homes and businesses in the US state have been left without power.
The hurricane, which is rare for November, was downgraded to a tropical storm after it slowed between the Bahamas and Florida.
Despite this, states of emergency and evacuation orders have remained in place, with heavy rain and storm surges forecast.
