Before becoming Peak Performance Coach and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Sarah became a guidance counselor. The bureaucracy and politics led her to pursue a path that gave her joy and freedom.

In this interview, Sarah discusses the importance of the mind-body connection and its direct effect on peak performance. She also explains how we can overcome our fears and celebrate little achievements daily.

Sara is a level 2 MELT Method® Instructor and a former competitive softball player and dancer who knows the significance of the mind-body link and how it directly affects peak performance.

With a degree in school guidance counseling and more than 14 years of experience dealing with children and their families, Sara has a thorough grasp of adolescents and their challenges.

Quotes

"The body actually if it feels fear, that overrides what our brain wants us to do. And so by learning and connecting to your nervous system, which is like this governing force of our behavior and drive, we can really access our potential and learn how to recognize when our body might be moving into one of these responses that I'm talking about."

"So a lot of time when we're feeling fear, particularly as adults, it's really old stuff and it's not current. And we get caught up in thinking that it's about the now when it's really our body remembering this old stuff and then having these responses."

"Every night, 3 things you should be celebrating that day"

"Fears shows up in the same way as the body no matter what is happening"

"It's learning around how to trust yourself and feel yourself separate from the fear so that when fear shows up you can discern is 'Is this something that I want to go or not?"

"I think the basics of consciousness needs to be taught like I have a mind that works this way"

Concepts
When the body feels fear, that overrides what our brain wants us to do.
We are holding a lot of the automatic patterns that were passed down to us from generation to generation.
Developing core beliefs can be used as an anchor in moments when you think.
If you try hard to appreciate big things, start by celebrating little things.
Physiology should be taught in schools right now.
Learning to click into your nervous system and helping it settle organically that's where we reprogram.
Your thoughts aren't true.
Physiology should be taught in school to combat mental health problems among youth.
If we don't have self-awareness, we can't get to where we want to go efficiently.
