A protester threw eggs at the UK’s King Charles and Queen Consort at an event in York, screaming “this country was built on the blood of slaves”

The crowds reportedly gave the new monarch a mixed reception before police raced in to drag the man to the floor and restrain him after he’d flung his projectiles towards Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.

Charles was in York to unveil a statue of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, at York Minster
