THROWING UP THE HORSE THREE TIMES.
Chinakkathur Bhagavathy temple is Situated in Palappuram near Ottapalam Taluk in Palakkad district, this festival draws in people in large numbers annually. It is celebrated on Makam asterism in the Malayalam month of Kumbham.Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathy Temple hosts one of the most unique and colourful poorams (temple festivals) in KeralaThe people of seven desams of Ottappalam, Palappuram, Pallarmangalam, Meetna and Erakkottiri on the West side and Thekkumangalam and Vadakkumangalam on the eastern side will take part in CHINAKKATHUR POORAM ,one of the most important festivals of the Valluvanad area. The highlight of the festival will be the kuthirakali (replica of horses).
There will be eight kuthiras on the eastern side and eight kuthiras on the western side.
The belief is that, on one side is the ‘kuthiras” of the Zamorin and on the other side is that of Earalpaadu..
