It was a dress up affair for the guests as they saluted downtown merchants for dressing up their stores. The Downtown Association held its annual Improvement and Beautification Awards dinner tonight. Chairman C.J. Paderewski headed the panel of judges. Association president George A. Scott, assisted by Mrs. America Marilyn Mitchell, handed out the awards to stores and businesses which did the most to modernize their buildings. C. Arnholt Smith Jr. accepted a plaque for the new US National Band building. Contractor Morley Golden got a trophy for the Center City construction program.
